Today my older son celebrated his 10th birthday. My wife and I each wrote him five notes (for a total of ten). Here are my five (slightly edited for the blog):
- One of the moments that I've been most proud of you was this past Saturday when Mr. Ross called you up at the men's meeting. I, like Mr. Ross, desire to see you grow up to be a godly man who serves God in his local church. I, like Mr. Ross, love the fact that you have a servant's heart and willingly help out with setting things up and are sometimes even a leader with the other boys in getting them to help out too! Keep it up!
- I love how you love to listen to praise and worship music and like to be involved with the singing during Kids Zone. I am excited that you desire to be involved with leading worship. Sure, starting to learn how to play guitar may seem hard, but stick with it because I know that playing guitar to praise God is a wonderful thing to do!
- I love how you love God's word. We read it every day and when we're nearing the end of a book in your Bible, you always know what book you want to read next!
- I love to see you build things whether it be with Legos or something else. You get an idea in your head and you make it happen. Then when you are finished, you are proud of what you have done.
- I love it when I have to go do something and you want to come with me just to be with me. I like being with you.
